My vision is to develop a net work where fan's of a
race can send in race results to serve the race community - many hands light
work.
It is early days and there is lots to do - here
are some rules and guide lines for us to help us on our way. Thank you and good
luck.
Basic rules and guide to submitting races
In order to make a curve and statistical table of your results, send us a processed excel file with your race results and I'll feed them into my CompCurves Analyser.
Check to see that the race you are about to enter has not already been entered. If the race is not submitted and you need time to process the data,
send me notification of your intentions and I will hold the space for you. If you can do is send a raw (unprocessed) pdf or excel file of a race then do so
- if we can find the time we will process the data.
Rules of the Road
A race only has to be submitted once.
There will be three main groups submitting:
- CompCurves.com
- Race competitors (or fans) of an event
- Race Directors' of the event
Any individual (directors or fans) may send in data, 'first in' will be
'first loaded' into the Analyser, and we will place your alias name as the loader to show who sent the data.
HOWEVER:
To promote prompt accurate submitting Race Directors of the said race are encouraged to send in their data as soon as they can - they will have first right send in their data, and it will be their data that is used in the Analyser.
If you intend to submit and need some time to process: send an email with the following message. You will have 24hrs to complete
- will be your data that is submitted.
Race Size
To get a good curve, only send in a race with more than (around) 100 competitors. There is no upper limit to race size.
Link
You can make a link to your website, blog, MySpace (or the like) by copying and pasting the URL address - of the race in question - as a link.
How to Submitting
Open the subtemp.xls (left click
and choose Save Target As), fill it in by cutting and pasting the results (found mostly on race event web pages) and send it back to us at our email address:
data@compcurves.com . Follow the
instructions on the template.
We will then process the results and then upload them.
If you can only send a raw (unprocessed) pdf or excel file of a race then do so
- if we can find the time we will process the data.
Be sure to rename the template file with the following name structure:
Race name, year, and then other distinguishing details (such as gender: Men, Women, mixed):
e.g. CompCurvesmaration2008women.xls
In the future we aim to develop an online download page.
Submitting (old) printed (paper) results
Data can also be transferred from paper printout result lists by a process of scanning the sheet(s), and pasting the file into Excel using data parsing (column making).
A good method will come for this: solutions can be found in Excel 'Help'.
